A year or so ago I bought this '020 accelerator board thru the used ads here. It's an old style CSA turbo board. They don't seem interested in answering questions about it (actually, the guy I talked to didn't recognize it). I had some intermittent reliability problems with it when I had the 2090a drive card but haven't had any problems since I switched to the 2091. Anyhow it does provide some speedup but there are some problems running games. This board does not provide either a hardware or software means of making it go away. So far I've been living with the lid off so I can pull the card when I want to play but that isn't really very practical. I've been playing with degrader and it does seem to help some. I've been successful with about 50% of the games. But mainly only the ones that start from workbench. I begin to doubt that degrader's functions are actually surviving the reboot. I can tell that the nofastmem function isn't because that shows up at the top of the screen. But I have no way to tell whether the nocache is surviving. All of the sysinfo type programs I have lock up solid when the '020 board is in. Does anyone have a test program that will tell me the status and will not lock up on the '020? Does anyone know why degrader would not be surviving the reboot? Is there a program that will cause an absolute cold reboot of the Amiga so that I wouldn't have to cut off the switch to be sure I have all functions back? And, finally, is there a hardware solution to my problem. Is there a trace or two running to the processor slot that I could put a switch into and be able to disable the '020 with the case closed? —–Paul—–
