Scenery Animator 4.0
10 messages in this thread
Well, I just got my upgrade notice for Scenery Animator. The version has
jumped from 2.0 right to 4.0!
Here's what it says:
Scenery Animator 4.0 now available!
(Picture of spaceships flying over the moon)
(Picture of hot air ballooning)
(Picture of stealth flying through Yosemite Valley)
Import, position, and render 3-D objects
Scenery Animator 4.0 accepts 3-D files in VideoScape format. Once loaded,
you can position them by simply clicking over the map.
3-D objects may be rotated, re-sized, and given a speed and direction.
Several ready-to-use objects are included.
AGA support
Render pictures in the new graphics modes with more color and higher
resolutions than before! Supports 256 color mode, HAM8, standard HAM (on
all Amigas) and super high resolution. AGA Amigas can view HAM8 pictures
on the screen. Non-AGA Amigas can render HAM8 directly to a file.
Manual tree placement
Now you can place trees exactly where you want. Manually placed trees may
be combined with randomly placed trees in the same scene.
Map zooming
You can zoom in on a selected portion of the map screen up to a 512X
magnification factor.
Just drag a box over the area of interest! This allows precise object
placement and camera path positioning.
2X faster preview
View previews on the main screen in less than half the time, with no
difference in quality compared to version 2.0. This comparison is valid
only for scenes without 3-D objects and manually placed trees.
Night options
Now you can simulate a night sky with stars using real 3-D star data, not
random dots! Also includes data for constellations only.
Improved path smoothness and banking
Your camera animation path is now smoother. Banking angle changes are less
sudden.
Lens and direction locking
There are new buttons on the map screen for locking your camera lens or
direction when using the right mouse button.
Improved camera movement controls
Six new push buttons make camera movement much easier, and allow greater
control.
Landscape disks (normally $10 each) are now only $5 each when purchased
with the Scenery Animator4.0 upgrade!
Important: Scenery Animator 4.0 requires AmigaDOS 2.0 or higher and at
least 3 megs of memory. An accelerator and hard drive are recommended but
not required.

Is it possible to OUTPUT those 3D Tree's from Scenery Animator as
individual TREE's in Videoscape 3D Format or other 3D Format????
THAT is a much needed option.
Not that I know of. Scenery Animator has grown into its own direction.

Grumble Grumble. Oh Well. It was worth a shot. The PD Tree Generator on my
Fred Fish CDROM is pretty useless. and I did one Tree by hand myslef which
Required a WHOPPING 13 megs to render and didn't even have any LEAVES.
I guess for Tree's I'll have to resort to using Raydance's built in Tree
Generator.
Peter,
You know I've often looked at those cool trees from Scenery Animator
and longed for the same thing. VP trees are also respectable. You'd think
it would be possible, since VP already saves landscapes as Turbo objects,
for it to do the same for the trees.

Yupper, I guess We'll have to Drop a Anvil I mean a Hint to Clint Woeltjen
about getting the Ability to output 3D Models of JUST the tree's from
Vistapro
Peter,
I called VRL and asked about that function and the ability to import 3D
objects. They say it is in the "works".

On AUTOPILOT over Chicago…
Thanx for the info on VRL working on ability to IMPORT 3D models into
Vistapro, tho I'd also like them to EXPORT their TREE's as 3D Models.
"…I guess for Tree's I'll have to resort to using Raydance's built in

Have you had any success with it? Can it do bushes or anything else?

I've had some success with Raydance's TREE generator. It's simply too
sloooooooooooow at rendering for me to use much.
I believe it can do Bushes. It is HIGHLY configureable thru its Scripting
language. It also has a built in Landscape generator. Not bad for a $50
piece of software but too slow for my tastes even on my 3000
