#Texel ?

Does anyone out there know about a Texel double speed drive? It is SCSI II compatable and can be had for $499(Canadian) I would like to hear from anyoone with any experiance with it. Right now I have a SCSI hard drive with a DTK SCSI card and would like somethimg compatable. Thanks Tony

Hi, Tony. I have the Texel DM-3024, which is double speed. (I think the external version is DM-5024.) I'm using the SCSI port on my PAS 16 sound card to control it. I bought it primarily because of favorable comments I've seen about it here and in other CIS forums. I've just had it for a few weeks, and I think it's great. $499 Canadian would be what, about $430 or so US? The prices I've seen are generally around $400 or so…

Evan, I recently purchased a Texel 3024, PAS16, labtec speakers and 3 CDs from an outfit called free-spirit software. However, they negelected to send me the drivers for the CDROM. Do you have any idea who to contact to get these. The card sounds great, but wish I had that CD hooked up. By the way – Purchased all of this for $639. Help Please, Scott Goette

The latest driver for the PAS16 can be downloaded from the section 12 of the MULTIVEN forum here on Compuserve. The file name is 302.EXE. It is a self- extractiing zip file containing the CD-ROM driver (TSLCDR.SYS, it loads in the CONFIG.SYS) and version 2.21 of MSCDEX.EXE, the DOS CD-ROM Extensions. Dan Collins

Hi Tony, I have a TEXEL 3024 Internal and it's a great drive. Don't know much about your SCSI Adapter though. You should be able to call the manufacturer about a CD-ROM driver for SCSI Card to support the TEXEL. In addition to the SCSI driver you would need a version of MSCDEX to support the drive also. It may be easier to buy a new SCSI Adapter and add your devices to it in addition to the CDROM? I use a Future Domain TMC-850M with mine. Good luck with your decision. John
