Hi all, I can't seem to get the HDBackup program that came with 2.1 to work properly. The data compress won't work and a couple of other option are always blanked out. The program does'nt seem to access the BRU program in the TOOLS directory. The HDBackup.config file is set up properly to the best of my knowledge, but anything I try to make it work the way it's suppose to fails Could someone please tell me what wrong and how to fix it. Thanx, Mark Laskowski 71531,340

Mark, The best way to fix the problem is to delete HDBackup and buy AmiBack or Quarterback. Data compression just plain does not work but worse than that many people have made backups with it thinking that everything was fine only to find that when they needed to they could not restore their data. I was very supprised to see that it was still included in it's original 2.04 version on the 2.1 upgrade. There were many messages from people having problems with it when 2.04 was first released and I assumed they would either fix it or get rid of it on the next release. Dennis ….on AutoPilot

Dennis, I think the reason that HDBackup was left in in its 2.04 version was to make up for the missing Diskdoctor that was useless since the 1.x versions of the OS. Something useless must always be included with the OS maybe any OS for that matter. And the thing that was useful for others was also removed, the speech feature, but the one thing that is totally glaring because of its complete absence is the C= NON-CDROM support for its most powerful computer yet released to market, and the ill-designed bay that should be housing it! I agreee with you. The best thing to do with HDBackup is to delete it and buy either AmiBack or Quarterback. Chris
