"I'd like to see HD access to a file instead of a partition" Ahhh, I'm doing that right now using Matt Dillon's FMS. Set up a 5Mb file as my Cross-PC IBM-HD partition. Can't claim credit for the idea, tho. I saw it on Usenet. Later, Bill

I understand, however, that there may be some problems with that way of operating – the CrossDOS people themselves told me it wasn't bugfree. –Ben …via AutoPilot

Hmmm… Well, it has worked for me. But then again I must admit that I haven't really exercised it much either. One thing that has happened is since I've upgraded to WB 2.1, the PCC: device icon now shows up on my Workbench. I don't remember that happening under 2.04. Did the CrossDos folks say what the possible hazards were? If I might trash the partition where the FMS file resides, I'd probably stop using it. I could use the 5Mb of disk space anyway. Later, Bill

Bill, they *did* say, but I've forgotten – my immediate reaction was to forget the whole than and not use, thereby avoiding the problems. Just call the support number in your book – that's all I did. They'll talk to you about it. –Ben …via AutoPilot
