We want to make fed gov info on DOS CD's available to networked DOS/Windows machines using PC/TCP(by FTP Software), dumb terminals connected to the LAN via dial-in or terminal server(they're still dumb however they connect), and to Macs that can telnet in like the terminals. There are some CD's available for Macs and we would like to make these available directly for our Macs(these would be duplicates of the more popular DOS CD's). My scheme is to find CD drives that will attach to a Unix box that has a DOS emulator. My theory is that if I can get a CD to mount as a Unix file system and that Unix is equiped with an NFS service as well as a DOS emulator then my pc's can remotely mount the CD's as local logical drives and execute the DOS search programs that come on these CD's. Also the terminals logged into this Unix machine can invoke the DOS emulator and also run these DOS search programs on these CD's. Any comments? emulator.
