FLC to MPEG
5 messages in this thread
I would like to output from 3DS to MPEG files. Any way to do this?
Thanks.
Ahhhhh The million dollar question!
I have been trying to get an MPEG converter for a looooong time, and have
finally found one!!
Ta-DA!
It is from a company called XING and it creates MPEG's that can be played back
on a Reel Magic card.

Pardon my sceptical reply but I looked into the Reel Magic card when I heard
about it and then into the MPEG creation process. I was told that there was no
PC based MPEG nor would it be possible. Why? Because it involves HEAVY DUTY
computing and a PC based conversion would allow you to grow old and die before
it completed. One possibility would be an AT board with independent memory and
multiple risc processors, i.e. one of the i860 boards that were available in
the past.
Reel Magic is playback only, I know that for sure.
On the other hand, I have been wrong once before <g>.
The Reel Magic card is only used for the playback of the MPEG stream created by
XING's software. They also have a software / hardware combination if you want
very fast results. There are also realtime MPEG boards for the PC that can do
live video REAL TIME, but it costs a TRUCKLOAD of money.
However, XING's option is fast, relatively cheap and great for putting out
animations without the need for a single frame video, and they play back
beautifully on the Reel Magic, and the new even Cheaper REEL MAGIC Lite!. Plus
you get to play dragon's lair!
Plus as a side issue, the software only compression aint too bad on the new
90MHz Pentium boards
