#Customer near despair!
2 messages in this thread
I am despairing of a reply to my message 12 days ago reproduced below.
The only response I have had is via e-mail from an ex-customer of yours who had
exactly the same gear as me, and went through a long process with you of tryng
to get it working, including sending it back to you for replacement of the
three chips. All to no avail. He finally junked the lot !
Earlier on I had had two similar e-mails but had tried to ignore them.
Please be straight with me, guys. Does this stuff actually work, or have I
bought a pup ?
Having tried everything else you suggested, including trying it in other people
computers, with other peoples FPU's etc, I have had no success at all. Sending
it back to you was my last hope, so as you can imagine this e-mail has
depressed me a lot !
Can you give me the e-mail or other address of ANYONE who is using the same
gear as me with satisfactory results ?? If you can't help perhaps I should
start appealing round Newsnet and CIS ?
If you can get this equipment working, then PLEASE reply and send me a returns
number as you suggested, so that we can at least START on the road to getting
some value out of what I bought.

Dear Redmond
Further to our previous communication about my M1230xa Accelerator, Where the
problem I was having was that when I installed a 50Mhz FPU, It caused my
machine various crashing and disk errors(Which involved having to reformat
twice) With The information I had given you on my setup and errors, You
suggested some possible reasons as to why things were going wrong:
Power Supply. FPU Oscillator required, in 2nd Oscillator slot(even though CPU &
FPU speed the same). Wrong software setup Chips U2, U3 and U4 were faulty and
needed replacing.
I first got an oscillator for the FPU and at first it appeared to cure quite a
few problems(Such as the screen glitching). But then some problems began to
come to light, such as Checksum errors on the Hard disk, these errors were
noticeable after moderate disk usage. Also minor software errors, but no
serious crashing out. These are niggling but undeniably real and serious ,and
they cannot be worked around, Basically I Still have problems.
The power pack is the very heavy type and i'm sure juice is not the problem. As
for software setup, I have followed the supplied information explicitly, ie
reducing the Max Transfer on my maxtor 80MB hard drive to 65536 ((Hex:
FFFA)about 650 K/sec)) when my normal setting is ((Hex: FFFF or FFFE)Just
over1000k/sec) even at this reduced transfer rate i am getting errors, But
since my errors aren't just disk errors but are also soft errors , I am sure my
problem lies elsewhere, such as . . .
Finally to the meat of the problem , one of the things you suggested I check
was the code on the chips U2, U3 and U4. The code I have on my chips is "
MC74F157AN ", and you said that if they did have that code on my chips, then
they would need replacing and you would supply me with a Returns Number so that
they could be. And i would be greatly appreciative if you would now supply me
with such a number.
I'm sure this problem is not great one and can be quickly resolved, so that i
can get down to working on my machine
I have sent this to the forum area, because I have lost your number.
I Look forward to your reply and shall be checking for it as often as possible.
Thanks in advance for you help both now and previous.
Owen Morgan.
Owen:
At this point, all I can suggest is calling Paravision at 214-644-0043, asking
for tech support and getting an RMA number. It doesn't sound like your problem
is going to submit to "remote control" repair.
re your message: I did see that message and did respond to it some time ago. I
don't understand why you didn't get it. Sorry for the
communications gap.
