I phoned Commodore Canada (Toronto) at 9 a.m. this morning (Monday), and it's business as usual there. Orders being taken, goods being shipped, etc. Talked to Doug McGregor, the president, briefly. It was a social call, so I will not report details … but I will introduce: COMMODORE LIQUIDATION DEATHWATCH QUIZ (no prizes for best answer) 1. When was the president of Commodore Canada advised by CIL West Chester about the liquidation announcement, made about 4 pm Friday? a) He was flown down to West Chester Wednesday, and participated in the final planning; b) He received a fax about two hours before the announcement was made; c) He got a phone call two hours after the announcement was made; d) Not yet. 2. How did the official news of the liquidation announcement first come to the attention of the president of Commodore Canada? a) He was part of the planning process; b) Full text of the announcement was faxed to Commodore Canada at about the same time as the announcement was made; c) He saw an announcement on the financial news wire; d) A US distributor (Creative Equipment International of Miami, Florida) phoned him Saturday and filled him in. Hahahaha .. I'm not going to tell you the right answers. But if you know how Commodore works, I suspect you can guess. –Jim

Incredible. Geez… if he had only had a CIS account and bothered to check the message board here in AmigaUser… <g>

My guess would be (d) in both cases. —Betty

Gosh, Betty, eveybody seems to be guessing (d), except for Mike Todd who has gone into hyperspace with (e)! (no, no, if you just picked up on this thread, we are NOT discussing languages!) Golly … it seems that everyone believes that Commodore is as bad in communicating with their own people, as they are in communicating with users, dealers, financial services, service facilities, and the media. (Or is it comforting to know they are consistent?) –Jim

Maybe I'm just rash about making guesses? Whatever has Commodore ever done that would make us think they would communicate with anyone – even their own people? —Betty

Betty .. I should say that subsequent to Monday morning, Commodore Canada were briefed on the current corporate situation. Better late than never. (That blows away Mike Todd's [e] responses) 🙂 –Jim

Jim, I'm delighted to know that Commodore Canada was finally let in on the news. Any interesting developments that have not already been discussed to death here? —Betty

Well, Commodore Canada have been briefed by West Chester. But they have no comment to make at the present time. That kinda signals that something is up, huh? –Jim

MOST interesting, Jim. We'll be pleased to know what really IS up – and I'm sure we will find out when the proper time comes. Gee, isn't waiting hard! I think it most interesting that the news from every branch EXCEPT West Chester seems to be upbeat, but from there we hear only the worst. It does make one wonder. —Betty

Dale Can you comment on the statement a dealer made to me that only 150 Tower4000 were ever made? wmc – via Autopilot!

Sure I can comment, but since I don't work at C= and never asked anyone about production of the T (other than maybe "when?"), I'm not sure how valuable those comments would be. 🙂 I'd belive 150 a plausible number. Given the way sales of the A3kT went. And the financial stuff going on. I'd hope it was a lot more than that because I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one. And remember — 'T' stands for "floor sTanding model." — Dale L. Larson, Intangible Assets Manufacturing

My sources late of Commodore mentioned an even lower number than 150. They also said the machines were hand-assembled, which backs up the low-number argument. The majority apparently went to NewTek.
