2 PC Questions
8 messages in this thread
Hello — Two questions on Imagine 3.0 PC version:
1) I'm trying to move a sphere's axis without moving the sphere. I follow the
instructions and hit shift-M, but after I move the axis and press OK, the
object jumps back and remains centered on the axis. How do I prevent this from
happening?
2) I want to create 3-D text and then apply textures. I create the text in the
spline editor, but I can't figure out how to apply textures there.
Any information would be appreciated!

Hey Harry
on your first question on the sphere. you can only move the axis on a
primitive sphere. You can't change the axis on a the object sphere.
On your other question I think you must first create your text and save
it as an object and reload it in the Detail Editor and than add the
texture there !!!

Thanks! I'll try again on the sphere.
I tried loading in my text into the detail editor, but it didn't work — I got
an error message saying it was a spline object.

There's 2 ways to save in the Spline Editor, reread yer Docs to find out
which is which
Harry, make sure you are using the primitive sphere, which is made up of points
and edges. The quick sphere is a special object which may not be edited. If
you are using the primitive sphere, select it, type Shift-M, move its axis,
press the spacebar to accept the translation and then hit escape.
When an object is created in the Spline editor, it may be saved as the spline
shape or as an object made up of points. To use the object in the other
editors, select Save Points in the Spline editor and then load it up in the
Detail Editor to assign attributes. –Rick Rodriguez

1-You habve to use a Primitive Sphere to move the Axis. The "PERFECT"
Sphere is only Sizeable, you can't modify it in any other way.
2-After you Create your 3D Text in the Spline Editor Save it out to disk
then Load it into the Detail editor to apply textures.
