PAR/LANTASTIC PROBLEM
5 messages in this thread
Using DOS 6.2 with multiple boot ups and using ASK.EXE to load PAR and/or NET
drivers. No matter how I load PAR, ie… between NET drivers and SERVER, or
before or after, PAR nails my NET PRINT command and some NET options. Maybe the
DPS floks can help us!

Jonas,
I missed your question but I'm trying to stay in the PAR/Lantastic loop. I
called DPS today and asked why I can't net-render to my PAR Drive. They said
Lantastic has trouble logging on to redirected drives plus frames rendered from
different computers would be out of sequence. They suggested I get a third
party spooller to transfer seqenced frames from my c-drive to the PAR Drive. Is
anybody out there doing this? Please reply with a list of possible venders that
make the Lantasic to PAR connection. I'm a machine designer not a computer
whiz. 3ds is a great tool but my 586-66 can't keep up. I need the other boxes
in our group to share the rendering chores.

I think what your looking for is a Pyros Partnership program called
NDUMP. Check out it's description in IPAS.txt in the "what's new"
section of the libs.

Max:
Download IPAS.TXT from Library 9, which has a large list of IPAS routines from
many manufacturers. One of ours, NDUMP.IXP, (Network Dump) does exactly what
you need. It was written for the PAR or Recordable Laser Disk, but works for
any device which can be controlled from a batch file.
It will pull files from a common network drive to the PAR in order while the
machine is used for rendering. We use it daily!
