Creating spline path in

Hi
I just got your book and was trying to create the Gnats antenna as in the
example on page 245 and I'm having trouble in creating the spline path. I'm
following the directions word for word, but when I press ALT-P after moving the
axis nothing happens.
Here's a quick rundown of what I'm doing in case anyone else can help me. 1.
Add axis 2. Press F1 3. Press ALT-C 4. Press M and move the axis 5. Press ALT-P
(nothing happens) If anyone can help I'd realy appreciate it.

What happened is you pasted the copy exactly over the top of the original.
When you moved the copy, the "image" of the original did not get refreshed. So
the axis is there. All you have to do is refresh the screen. Are you new to
Imagine and/or 3D?

Actually what happend was I didn't click on OK.<G> It didn't say to in the book
and I never noticed it down at the bottom of the screen until after I posted
the message.

Yes I'm new to Imagine. I have been planing on buying 3.0 when I get my tax
return and I saw a message posted in GRAPHDEV about the book and bought it as
soon as I could find it. This is a GREAT book. Thank you. I've been using
POV-Ray for about a year now and have become a big fan of Mike Miller. I have
only one complaint. The picture of the camera and the bee are on the same page
so I can't hang them both on the wall.

Hi Sam,
I think Mike Halvorson should jump in here to clarify your question about
distribution of work created by Imagine. However, it's been general policy with
Waite Group Press books that the bundled program is a learning tool and work
shouldn't go out of the classroom. It seems to me, however, that your request
is non-commercial and beneficial to the "image" of Imagine, so maybe Mike would
encourage the posting. Mike?

BTW…you might want to go flip through Appendix A before diving into the
middle of the book. It outlines some of Imagine's conventions. See the top of
page 430 in particular.

I know you're going to hate me for asking this. As I ask this at least
once a year. Will a motion blur FX module be made now that the foundation
of 3.0 has been established?

you _do_ know you can use ARexx and that ImageMaster you love so much to roll
your own motion blur effects, don't you? I know, I know, I shouldn't talk since
I haven't done it myself, but the functionality _is_ there. Just scale your
timeline by 5, for example, and render the entire range. Have Imagemaster
process groups of 5 images like this:
1) Load 1st frame of 5 as primary. Multiply it by 20%.
2) Change the primary buffer into a secondary.
3) Load 2nd of 5 (gee, sounds like a Borg designation B^) as primary.
4) Multiply it by 20%. Absolute add the secondary.
5) Delete secondary.
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 for each of the remaining 3 images.
7) The result: your primary buffer will contain an average of all 5 images.
Motion blur is yours!

I was so set on the smaller motion blur capability of Imagemaster R/t that
I forgot all about its averaging capability. I'm keeping your example for
reference.

<blush> Awww shucks. That's why I keep coming back to this expensive online
service, for the warm fuzzies I get when I turn on someone else's lightbulb.
(<g> that's not a euphemism) Of course, you have to render 5 or 10 images for
each final frame, but you'd have to do that regardless whether Imagine or an
external image processor was doing the averaging.
