I've heard a bit about PAR but am not sure what it is. Is it a JPEG system?

The PAR card goes onto your motherboard and has it's own dedicated IDE Hard
drive attached to it.. Three HD are currently recommended and once connected to
the PAR card cannot be used for storing files that are not .TGA. The PAR uses
it's own proprietary JPEG compression to grab the 24 bit .TGA file created in
3D Studio ( important that the images be rendered :
752 x 480 aspect ratio 0.851 gamma control 2.20, render to fields . If not
rendered at that resolution, you do not get a full screen image.. When you
click on render, instead of choosing say the default of: c:\3ds3\images… you
would choose g:\ which is the PAR card.. the .TGA is grabbed by the PAR and
converted to a .ANI file… all subsequent images are added to it and it
becomes one file.. then you go into the PAR software and playback directly from
Hard drive to video output at 60 frames/sec with a choice of VHS, S-VHS,
betacam or MII output.. All effects such as wipes etc had to be done when
rendering thru video post before the transfer to the PAR.. I did a 2200 frame
demo for a client and the output was to VHS.. very clean and he gets on the
Tape the master, when he wanted more tapes, I simply playback the demo over and
over changing to a new tape each time.. High quality and especially fast.. the
2,200 frames mean about 1 min 15 sec of demo.. imagine if one had to transfer
frame by frame, you'd be at it for say: 4 frames a minute would be 550 min or 9
hours 10 minutes, remember the time you taught me about how to trasnfer to the
single frame Sony U-Matic 3/4 inch machine? <g> Cheers, Bob
