#3ds file creat prob
3 messages in this thread
How's it going? I'm having a problem with my 3ds – video post ipases crash (w/
lantastic network up) or w/o net give: "can't create that file, ok?" &
"warning: write error on undo file, continue?" ; hold button gives "can't
create that file".
I tried re-installing from disk and the new, separate installation works, but
the
old installation (with all my settings) still wouldn't work even after I copied
in the
fresh 3ds.exe . What's up? Thanks for your help.

I'm glad you were able to get a fresh installation to work. In the meantime,
it may be possible to take these alerts literally – that 3DS has instructions
to use something like a read-only location to create a file – perhaps your
temporary files are directed to a CD-ROM drive or a network drive for which you
don't have the correct permissions.
I would try something like renaming the 3DS.SET file which is in the old
installation of 3DS3, then copying the new 3DS.SET file from the installation
which works. Look in the 3DS.SET file for a TEMP-PATH="temp" setting which
might be set up wrong. Go through the 3DS.SET file and look for all the places
where directories are specified (in the DISK PATH section). For instance,
TEMP-PATH="D:\TEMP" might have been specified, and might be a reference to an
incorrect or non-existant location.

Joe,

In addition to Nik's suggestions, If you've been rendering and if
a swap file has been created, it may be that you're out of disk
space. F10 to a dos prompt and do a dir of the partition that you're
saving your images to. Any room left?
