Hmm.. There have been several reports of similiar problems… I will
investigate. I think that when we added P9100 support, we tightened up the
list of allowable MemAddrs…. 2000, 8000, and A000 are the only ones allowed
in the P9000 docs… but it isn't used for the PCI… In our working version of
the code, we allow ANY value for MemAddr for the PCI version. If you do not
have the PCI version, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! We will defintely fix this.

We have heard reports that the Vibrant BBS has a newer version of the VIB3DS
file than the one found on CompuServe. However, the Vibrant version fails with
the Viper with a message that mentions incorrect memory addresses, no matter
which one you choose.
Can you check this out?? Thanks!
Nik
The version on the BBS and on CompuServe should be 1.0.2–this seems
to be the one with the MEMADDR problem on PCIs. 1.0.3 should deal
with this–the Alpha I sent to Gary Yost seems to work…

The problem is that we check the validity of the address even on the
PCI version, which allows a lot more addresses. The version I sent
to Gary Yost was 1.0.3 Alpha with the fixed code and it seemed to
work for him–basically we allow ANY address for PCI. We are going
to be making a 1.0.3 Beta here in about 1-2 weeks with MGA-1 (Matrox
MGA Impression and MGA Pro), Targa+, and a few other changes
including this PCI fix.
I would also like to narrow down the problem reported here with the
Orchid 1280 P9000 board, but we'll have to see if we can get the
board in house in time.

Chuck,
Thanks for all the information. It sounds like the alpha version that Gary has
should not be posted here.
The version here on ASOFT is 1.0.2.P1. I believe that the Vibrant BBS has a P2
or so revision.
