BUT! The AME manual says to import AME entities with unify normals OFF (page 157-158 "Transferring Files to 3D Studio" of the AME 2.1 Ref. manual). The article in the Dec. '92 CADENCE by Steven Elliott and Phillip Miller suggests that this is because while ACAD generated faces are somewhat less than specific regarding their normals, AME-generated meshes DO convey their proper normals, and thus using "unify" could cause some AME entities to be fouled up. Obviously this doesn't explain an "un-fixable" face(es), nor does it indicate what one should do if one wants to bring in both ACAD and AME entities (use two DXF files, one with only AME and one with ACAD?). I don't know what the AME manual says, but I would always recommend leaving ALL three of the buttons ON in the DXF import dialog. Try it both ways and see what happens. – G

David: It has been my experience that closed volumes will transport well either way… open volumes and planar surfaces, on the other hand, often need hand 'diddling'. C#
