I haven't seen any pricing on the new Toshiba drives. It would be nice
if they kept the 3301 around at a lower price, but I think we'll see it go
bye-bye. It's funny, if you think about it, the new generation of CD
drives are almost as fast as the old XT hard drives, I bet in a year or so
we'll see 65ms CD-ROM drives. Of course by then a 660 meg IDE will
probably cost about 200 dollars…

Just a point on behalf of CDROM: This development will be nice, but CDROM
will remain the only efficient way to move that volume of data to thousands
of users in one fell swoop. Now when we get 600 MB flash memory, who
knows…?
