Hi Emplant gurus,
I want to use my Toshiba 3401B CD-ROM from Emplant via empscsi.device
directly. Any suggestions (eg. PublicDomain driver)?
How can I print with my HPIIIP&PacificPage_Postscript from Emplant via
Amiga parallel port-Port A parallel.device? MacFF shows no printer driver
file.
It's a pity, no Macintosh dealer support available for Emplant users and
I'm sick of just playing around with speedometer (quicktime movies with
sound are "bombed" away after a very short period although I have checked
Popcorn 1.0.1 player/editor for 32bit cleanliness)!!!
Plz help, I'm used to WORK with computers.

Wich Amiga do you have? I have an A4000/Emplant/Toshiba 3401B as well and know
quite a bit about the problems Toshibas have with Macs.

I use my Emplant and TEAC CD with no problems. Both AsimCDFS and Xetec
from the Amiga side work great. You have to have the MAC CD INIT for
operation on the MAC side. I would suggest a cacheing INIT such as that
supplied by FWB.
My Quicktime movies are smoothe… and yes the Popcorn player is not 32bit
clean. Use a player like Easyplay.
Anyway, what software do you WORK with? I use PageMaker, Illustrator,
PhotoShop, SoftPC, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Mail, FaxPRO, plus lot's of
games and utilities without any problems at all.

Thank you very much indeed, especially for the tip to use Easyplay instead
of Popcorn player.
After starting to "playing around" with mainframes (only privileged user
status) and micros (programing) in the early eighties, my personal team
and I do heavy work at business with IBM 3270 CICS IBM and SIEMENS PSE
applications, terminals & Top PCs 3270 emulation and Windows software
excl. (WP, MS & Corel mainly). Continuing at home 🙁 with BB and Amiga,
BUT neighbouring dept. uses several Macs incl. a Quadra 650 (without QT
extension, making public relations as well as our monthly newspaper,
33.000 printed) with eg. Quark X-PRESS and so on. So we have to do in
special (rare) cases a lot of conversions … boring. This is one reason
why I'm just starting with Emplant (second I love my Amiga).
I have a fair knowledge of AMIGA and PC but I'm a real beginner with Macs.
At the moment I need any help I can get to begin to WORK under Emplant!
A whole world of misinformations, eg. I tested Popcorn with CHK32 from
MacSys/Lib7, which told me it is ok. <consored>
HPIIIP Printer driver? I tried MacFF, one Laser Printer exe.file (!?) was
found. Guess … yes, it was ADOBE for MS-DOS!!! CD-ROM? Three years old
image file, what ever this will be.
I use AmiCDROM via empscsi.device. Plz, what is MAC CD INIT and FWB???
MacDealer original sound: "Buy an Apple CD-ROM, we cannot help you with
your Toshiba one!" PC Dealer in their turn: "Toshiba works great in PC
clones, no Macintosh experience!"
You see, Jonathan, any hints via CompuServe or Marion's CROSSINGS strongly
appreciated.

To gain access to the Toshiba drive from the Emplant side, you must be
running an INIT (MAC software) for that particular drive. You can get
this INIT from Toshiba. NOTE: You must disable AmiCDROM in order to use
it under Emplant. FWB is a company that makes an INIT for many devices
including the Toshiba drive. The software is called CD-ROM toolkit.
The Check32 program only checks a flag in the resource fork of
applications and is not necessarily an indicator of whether or not an
application is 32bit clean.
