gary: i have installed the new ipas3 6 and 7 and they are wonderful. if you dont mind please let me know about the following: 1)why did you not include a realtime preview for the skin.axp as wonderful as the axp is, the preview would have made it so much easier to see what settings work best. 2) why have you limited the tempo.kxp to only rotation and position tracks and objects only. why not include all other tracks(morph, scale..), lights and cameras. all of the above can use the graph editing. please dont get me wrong, i love all the ipas3 programs, i am just curious. thanks ara

Deadlines are what motivate 80% of my life. They make my world go round (so to speak). Would you rather have me work on upgrading these IPAS routines or put all of my attention into r4? – G

gary: i agree deadlines keep things moving, but from a development and a developers point of view usually this means compromise in the final product and the ultimate visualized concept. i am saying this becouse i like you am involved in product development (not software. i direct the R&D for Kemper snowbords and i do a lot of the designs personally) and i almost always end up compromising my visualised concepts that i believe deliver the ultimate product, becouse of mostly deadlines rather then technical reasons. this does not give me the satisfaction i need to get becouse it does not let me truly express what i had in mind and unfortunatly allows the judgment to come from the compromised product. but reality is reality and i guess we all need to deal with it. as far as r4 vs ipas3: hey r4 is the name of the game BIGTIME. but maybee sometime in the future while taking a break and having your margarita, you can write a few lines of code to upgrade these ipas3 programs. i defenatly will not complain if you get the chance to to this. but RRRRRR444444 it is, if it is one or the other!! are you done with wishlist items or are you still looking at ideas from endusers? here are some ideas anyway: 1) I.K. maybee.2) object based materil editing(i sent you an email on this one before).3) creating and editing 3d paths directly in the keyframer. 4) realtime shading in 3d edit and keyframer.5) object snaps.6) color bitmaps in the background of the editor and keyframer.7) raytraced refractions.8) drawing layers like acad.9) keyboard, type in dim.s for modeling not as an ipas but as an integral part of the program. 10)keyable background image motion or limited background motion derived from the camera motion(i.e. background image moves according to the camera movment, ofcourse to a certain limit, like viberation, small rolls and ups and downs, small pans and etc…).11) acad type curve and arc modleing in 2dshaper(spline and fit through points).12) direct aplications of decals on objects in shaded mode. 13) maping mode in which the mapping icon actully shows the outline of the alpha channel not the whole image.14) copy range of keys in the keyframe tracks.15) real undo without hold. thats all i have in mind now. do me a favor, even if it is too late for wishlist items, let me know what you think about the above ideas. thanks in advance and good luck with r4. ara

I think that most of your wishlist items are already on the wishlist in one form or another, Ara. Someone I respect tremendously once told me that the key to success was the ability to compromise effectively. It's a hard thing to do, because with compromise, no one person is ever "right". But the reality is that my friend was right. – G

gary: i believe we all do that in one way or another, but " effectively" is the key word! i guess i am too much of an idealist?! take care ara

There's nothing wrong with idealism, Ara. (as long as you keep it to yourself 🙂 – G

There's nothing wrong with idealism, as long as you're realistic about it <g>.
