I've discovered a strange bug in the Lofter. I was making a simple frame. Using a closed, square path and two different shapes for making a kind of tube. But all the shapes on the levels appeared 180 degree rotated! Stranger: When I scroll throug the levels the user-window shows both shapes, the correct one and the rotated but there is only one shape on each level. What happens here…?

Without seeing the state of your LOFT-BANKING switch in 3DS.SET, the state of your Contour button, etc, it's impossible to comment on your message. If you'd like us to look into it, send us that info, along with the zipped up .lft file, via binary email here on CIS.

Soeren, Definitely take Gary up on the offer to send in your file. That's the sure way to check out the problem. Here's something that you can check in the meantime. The symptoms that you describe are typical of having the Contour button ON when two adjacent path vertices occupy the exact same position in space. Try either turning off Contour or use Path/Move Vertex to move the one of the offending vertices to another position. Doubling up vertices like that is actually a very useful lofting technique. We describe a couple of ways to exploit it in the book "Inside 3D Studio". <I know, I know, a shameless plug!><BG> Steven
