I am considering the purchase of the GVP G-Lock. The advert I've seen
says that it has an intuition-based software control panel.
Does this mean that the genlock is not usable with software that takes
over the machine, thereby preventing it from multi-tasking?

You can sometimes use the genlock with non-multi-taskig software, but you will
almost certainly have limited access, if any, to the features of the G-Lock.
The G-Lock software can be opened without a user interface and accessed via
hotkeys and/or AREXX. Your titling software will determine the compatibility
limits with the G-Lock. Most titling programs will have direct support fo the
G-Lock (such as Scala) or at least give you access to the hotkeys and AREXX
port. We do not have a list of compatible titling software, as
non-multitasking software, by definition, is not compatible with the G-Lock
software. Contact the manufacturer of your software for more assistance.
