Hi Jill & Michael,
I've seen an advert in some UK computer magazines from CD Revolution Ltd
advertising Philips CDD 462 PhotoCD compatible CD-ROM drives and Kodak
Photo CD players.
They list Kodak Photo CD Access at GBP 35.00 (ex VAT). The price is the
same for Mac or PC. The Philips CDD 462 is GBP 349 (ex VAT) without Photo
CD Access or GBP 369 with it included.

I can't vouch for this company as I have no experience of it or connection
that I am aware of, though they do seem to emphasis Philips CDROM drives in
their advertisements.

Ouch! That's about GBP 1 = US$ 1 … since I got my copy here in
California for about $33.
Is that typical of prices for computer products there?

Yep. That's typical for Europe (not just the UK). That's why so many of us
buy direct from mail-order companies in the USA. Even after the shipping
costs and import duties, most things work out around half the price of
buying in Europe.
