Servus Ingo! Wie geht's?
John Tissavary (LUNA cie)
Gut,
just writing a "3D Studio light", for the University. Comming soon in this
forum as shareware.
Kommst Du noch nach Europa diesen Fruhling ?
Hoffe Dir und deinem Vater gehts gut.
Ingo
3DS light? I know there's been some talk on this forum about having such a
thing for educational purposes. I'm sure you'll be elevated to 3DS "demi-god"
status if/when you pull that one off!
I'm probably not going to make it to Europe too soon because of work and $$$.
I'm buying a car, and of course the never ending quest to keep up with pc/3ds
hardware and IPAS. Fortunately I've got a couple of decent projects to keep me
going.
I will let you know when I come to germany next. I'm hoping this fall, but
it's hard to tell.
servus, mach's gut

John, I wish to get it "demi-god" but I have not the time to wrote a
really good renderer. You will only have flatshading, no
antialiasing, one light, texture- and bumpmapping, and you can import
3DS ASCII files. gute Zeit
Sounds fascinating, Ingo. Tell me more!

Gary, it is only a study work for the prefinalend of my studys, in
other words a toy. It's very simular to the 3D-Editor of 3DS, but the
GUI includes some of my wishes for 3DS4. It's is also a training for
a IPAS3 tool, which I plan to release in Nov.
Sounds like a great project, Ingo.
I'm looking forward to whatever IPAS3 stuff you create!
I can't even imagince the amount of work it must take to write a 3D
program from the ground up.
The primary 3D wireframe routines are simple, effictent datastructures
and there implementation in a hand written GUI cost a lot of work.
But the most time intensive part is a good render such as 3DS3. (Is
this right -G ?)
Actually, the most time-intensive part is getting the booleans to
work consistently. *big grin* Oh yeah, we punted on that…
John, I've noticed you've used servus a couple of times mixed in with
German? Is it also used in Germany?
Yes, "servus" is used as a greeting (or good-bye) in german.
