<<Did you originally set the PAR drive as the target drive to store targa files on?>> Yeah, I dump files directly from the rendering process to the PAR — My symptoms may be different that yours — I get about 10-15 (short) animations on the PAR, then , for no apparent reason, I render one more, and 5-6 of the previously stored animations have corrupted frames. They were all perfect before this last operation. This is not something that happens during playback, the animations have corrupted frames even when stepping through them. Really weird. I'm glad I haven't done anything of (major) significance yet, I'd have a hard time explaining to a customer how my $ 3000 taping gear ate his $4000 animation so it won't be ready on time <g>.. I hope this gets better —

John, <Yeah, I dump files directly from the rendering process to the PAR > Are you using more than one machine (what is your set-up)? If so, are you using Greg Pyros' NDUMP IPAS or the .IPX thing from PAR? If you are using the .IPX, let me know where you found documentation about it or how it can help me. I am trying to get .tga's that have already been rendered to a drive on my network copied to the PAR and broken up animations. It worked when I first put it in one machine (486/33) then I thought I should take advantage of the 386/25 that was just sitting there, it didn't work. I tried it back in the 486 and now I can't get it to work at all (Greg are you listening???) I'll be here 24 hrs a day for the next week so any help is appreciated!!!!

Sounds like you have a network problem — can you bring up the directory that the files are in from the PAR program? When copying files, the PAR will bring in sequentially numbered files in order — the IPAS that Greg P. has is for dumping frames from the network directly to the PAR while rendering (I believe)

Joseph, Yes I can read files from anywhere on the network from the PAR, also can copy files to the PAR directly from the dos prompt to the PAR. The tech guys say everything I'm set up for is correct but something is still amiss. <Render directly to PAR from animation> Yes that is what I want to do, this will save me the time of copying files across the network. Any ideas??? jimbo

Are you using alpha in your output files? If so, you need to increase your buffer size to accommidate the extra info — that's the only thing I can think of — You should check with Greg Pyros about the IPAS netrender file (to make sure the TGAs end up in the proper order on th PAR). It sounds great in theory, I would like to know how it works. –John

James, In your PAR manual pg 103 it explains how to increase your buffer size. Type Pardrv /? – that lists you current configuration. For images with Alpha set your PARDRV statement to PARDRV /B:1500 -JE

John thanks, I'll try it and see what happens. Jimbo
