If you have a few Amigas which you've been wanting to network but you
can't afford Ethernet at $300 a machine, there is a solution…
Software Hut is offering a special bundle. Two Commodore A2060 cards and
IAM's Amiga Envoy for the low price of $149.95. For orders, call Software
Hut at 1-800-848-0079, or fax them at 215-586-5706. For tech support and
questions call 215-586-5701.
This bundle does not include cables, T's and terminators (you'll need
RG62/U 93 ohm cable, two 93 ohm BNC terminators and two BNC Ts to connect
two Amigas).
The A2060 is a Zorro-II ArcNet card. Sorry, this won't help you if you
need to put an A600/1000/1200 on your net, though you might be able to
find an A560 for your A500 if you look hard enough.

Amazingly cheap, although Arcnet is….Arcnet. What kind of deal do they have
for users that want add a third Amiga?
How can I hook my PC up to this as well (not being familar with Envoy)? Is
there any way?

Arcnet's really not so bad. Especially not for the price.
I didn't ask them about a third machine. You'd need another copy of Envoy
(it comes in a 2-user pack) and another Arcnet card.
Envoy is Amiga only. If you want your PC and your Amigas to talk, you are
looking at TCP/IP or Netware. An NFS (filesystem) server for the PC will
run you about $500. Oxxi's netware client is a hog that won't cooperate
with other networking software, and the PC server will be expensive.
All of my AmigaOS Amigas use Amiga Envoy to talk to each other and TCP/IP
to talk to a Unix box and a PC (running OS/2).

I haven't heard that much about ArcNet. How does it compare to EtherNet
for speed, reliability, etc.?
Am I correct that use of the card is essentially transparent when using
Envoy?
