#Hilite IPAS HELP!
3 messages in this thread
Could someone help me out of a jam. I have a tight deadline and just
bought the #1 IPAS to use the hilite filter. I haven't really used
IPAS routines that much so I need a crash course. I want a hilite off
of the center of a logo and I really want a large starburst effect.
I am using the DPS PAR to lay to tape: 1. Do I need to render at 24
or 32 bit with alpha channel to do the IPAS. 2. Haven't done much
with the video post so this is new as well. But I am assuming I
render to fields like I usually do to my hard drive. Enter video
post, create the filter effect I want, then dump to my PAR and that's
it. 3. The IPAS came with tutorial files but the book really didn't
have a tutorial. One sample file looked like it had colored dots
where it wanted the hilite, do I need to build these in where I want
hilites?? Wish I had more time, but I don't, and can't get it. Don't
really have time to drudge thru this but I must. Any help greatly
appreciated. Thanks, Paul Kakert
Paul,

See the bottom of pg 17 in the Image Processing Manual.

Why don't you render hilite1.3ds and see if you can get it to your par
successfully.

See pg. 18, Key Off for a description of controlling which pixels are
processed.
Do all that and then ask additional questions.

Thanks for the help. After some trial and error – it works great.
Rendering right to the PAR drive. I was thinking I could simply
designate that the flares of the highlight vary in length over the
series of frames, but I guess I have to vary the size of the sphere I
am using as my Key off hue (sound right?) Anyway, it works and thanks
alot. Paul
