#Modeler Extrude
5 messages in this thread
remember that path extrude takes into account your spline settings, scale
and rotate settings, and position information, so while your object may
look like its moving fine, that path information may not seem logical to a
modeler. I haven't seen the problem you are mentioning, so haven't had to
work around it yet (eek no easy answer). Try some more manipulation of
your path and check for the things I mentioned above…Maybe leave mail to
John Gross about this also.

Thanks, Grant. I found out that when you set up a path (for later
extrusion) using the Align to Path option (so that the camera faces in the
direction of the path at all times) the extrusion doesn't work very well.
Instead, you have to manually orient the camera at selected points on the
path and create key frames. I still don't know why Path Extrude doesn't
like the Align to Path option, or why Path Extrude goes crazy when the
motion is along the Y axis…
You can leave Align to path on and then advance from keyframe to keyframe,
saving the rotational information at each point. You can then turn Align
to Path off and tweak it from there. I experimented some more with Path
Extrude yesterday and came up with some lovely new effects hehehe.

Thanks, Grant. I think I'm starting to get the hang of the Extrude
functions.
Speak for yourself, I'm no grown-up…
