#SONY buys AMIGA?

Hi! My name is Mike Brennan.I'm new to compuserve,and I thought I'd introduce
myself.I'm an audio visual tech, and I do graphics and music work on an AMIGA
at several hotel casinos in Atlantic City. I have a bussiness called "SIR
RENDER" audio/video.(copyright 1993) I was wondering if any one heard that SONY
bought commodore. In atlantic City, this is the hot rumor, which has been
echoed to us from several HUGE amiga supply houses. We need any info that you
have, since our executives wand to know what is going to happen to the AMIGA's
that they invested in.(Which I talked them into buying, as they like to point

I've heard that rumor on and off for weeks, but it has never had any
inside confirmation. The rumor about Samsung buying Amiga seems to have a
bit more behind it, though until an official announcement, it is still but
a rumor.

I heard via two dealers (Fri. 28) that the SAMSUNG deal was finalised on
thursday 27th.?!

Hi Mike,
The rumor here is that samsung is interested in the technology(?), and
possible the amiga line. There isn't much info available as yet, although
there was someone at Samsung Austraila who confirmed that there were
infact negotiations taking place. It is also rumored that there was a
meeting at Westchester between Samsung, what's left of C=, and the Amiga
developer community(who knows how many), for the purpose of, I suppose
showing what it(Amiga) can do? I haven't heard anything about what
happened probable involves NDA's or it never happened?
I can see your position, but just remind your bosses that if they want
to jump ship, they had better get `final cost' bids with no holes.
Because of course if they don't they'll get burned. I know a PC system
can do alot of what the Amiga can in terms of multi media but it won't be
a 1:1 conversion, more like 4:1 conversion w/ big $ hardware. So the
Amiga will remain cost effective for a while. I really hope there is a
deal struck and an annoucement is made soon! This is getting real old,
and depressing, to think the world will just let it die. Wouldn't be the
first time.
