Some interesting news…. Well, after playing with our newly acquired PowerMACs (7100 and 8100), and using the latest version of Speedometer, and doing some tinkering with 060 comparisons between the various MAC and Amiga 3rd party vendors… some interesting results are in store… The 50Mhz 68060 is nearly twice as fast as the 8100 (in NATIVE mode) in the CPU performance test. Math is nearly identical, and video (on a real PDS capable MAC) is very close (in favor of the PowerMAC). So, if the CPU crunching is going to be twice as fast (hec, if it was the same even) as the 80Mhz PPC, what is the 66Mhz & 100Mhz versions going to do. You will see 060 boards from Radius, Applied Engineering, DayStar, and probably quite a few others… running ALL applications *today* at equal (or greater) speed of the PowerPC is going to be a hard battle for PPC to win… I don't think it will… I am VERY excited now about our multiprocessor board. 🙂 Four 060s working together on a single board… with up to 4 boards (6 in a tower!) in a single machine… what can you say?? Go Amiga! — Lookout, here comes the flames from Andrew — 😉 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + Grounded because I can't find AutoPilot on CIS! + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
