If we know what is definitely going to be in, we generally want to be open and tell you all about it unless there is a reason we don't want our competitors to know (who we know are reading this forum regularly). However, since we may pull things even after they are implemented, we did not announce these new deformation and sculpting capabilities, the real-time lighting, the real-time display of textures including video textures, etc. The manuals (yes, plural!) have gone to print, so the main things we are waiting on is getting the manual back and getting better drivers from Matrox and Intel. No official release date, but my personal best guess is first week of June.

Speaking of 3d drivers – what video card would you recommend? Currently, I'm using a #9 GXE64. I'm thinking about getting an MGA Impression + 4M, but am wondering as to the value gained from it considering its high price (> $600 mail order). Also, I'm concerned that in its 3d acceleration modes, even with 4 megs, its max color depths are only 1152x864x256 and 800x600x64k. On top of that, it has terrible DOS performance – but I guess I could disable VGA on the Impression and keep using the GXE64 for that. Are there any other 3d cards coming out soon? I've been hearing about 3d cards on the horizon for some time now, but I haven't seen any except for the Matrox.

Matrox is best bet for trueSpace2 for now. If you can wait 3 or 4 more months, you will have additional attractive choices, but if you wait another 3 or 4 months you will have more choices again . . . I guess we have to jump at some point.

Well, i'll probably just wait then. After just having bought this new P120, I could probably use a breather before blowing some more cash <grin>. Frank

You can refer to previous messages here, regarding the Matrox. Basically, we've made an offer for those who want to go to the Matrox to be used with trueSpace2. Omnicomp has the 3Demon board, but their drivers for 3DR are very new. I'm hoping to see a more solid driver release very soon.. That's one hellofa board, based on the Glint 300sx chip! (Carries a serious price tag, so far..) Like Konstantin said, if you *can* wait 3-4 months, you'll see many boards show, and several drop in price..

Thanks for the info. How long will the Matrox/TS2 offer be going on? Frank
