Yes & no. I love our property, pond, Canadian geese who are nesting, flowers &
veggie garden, time to play with Ami & learn new tricks…hate the ignorance &
poor English one hears every where & only one Amiga techie in Winston. Really
miss all the great friends I made at Amuse & all the cute teen age boys who
fell over themselves to help me <giggle>. Believe it or not I still hear from
some of them! One sent me a working backplane so I could finally get my SCSI
card working.
Do you still go to Amuse meetings? Any of thr "old" gang still around?

Hi Gracia,
I only go Amuse meeting occasionally. Most of the old group has gone —
everybody left New York — though Livingston is still the president. He's
thinking about trying to get a worldwide Amiga group started (suggeston of
Giorgio Gomelsky), and talking to Joe Lowery about ideas.
What cute teenage boys? Have they all left, or just grown up?!!

Yo Brian,
I was brought up in the South, BUT around educated people. The educated speech
& accent is delightful here…BUT "it ain't came back yet", "him & me is" is
gross to the ear as is the pride they have in their ignorance. This country is
dumbing down fast, & it's not just the "iner city". Sorry to be an elitest, but
that's the truth.

I grew up in the South and I couldn't agree more with your posting. I hate that
I cringe when I hear my nieces and nephews speak. On the other hand,
Southerners don't have a corner on bad grammar. I've heard it here in the North
and every other place I've visited in this country.

I guess I'm lucky, I have never heard such bad grammer, but then I have never
lived around such people. Our doormen & porters in NYC spoke better English &
it wasn't always their native language. As I said, the educated Southern speech
is beautiful. I grew up in Annapolis so I'm not a Damn Yankee, just an elitest

Nuthin could be finah than to be in Carolina….
While the english may not be up to New Yawk standards, I do miss the
Carolinas. 2 years in Charlotte, 1 year on Oak Island, and 2 1/2 years in
Charleston. The friendship and hospitality I've been shown in both North
and South Carolina, are second to none.
My son is the proud owner of possibly the only Bo Jangles Racing – Chicken
& Bisquits T shirt here in Sacramento, California.
I'm California born and raised. I still dearly miss the Carolinas, and if
I could figure out a way to go back, and not starve, the screen door
wouldn't hit me on the way out.
If I couldn't have the Carolinas, I'd surely settle for Jaw-Ja.

Why? At the thought that someone COULD miss NYC, or could NOT miss NYC. Be
careful in your answer..I LOVE NYC…well, the NYC of yesteryear. If I had a
Meg of $s I'd have the best of both…the country & THE city along with every
Amiga toy known to man.

Some of us up here in Central New York don't see the point. <g>
Hit the jackpot and retire to the Adirondacks or the Finger Lakes – it's
cheaper (and you can see the sky!). Any business you absolutely NEED to conduct
could be done electronically. And, if you really MUST connect with
"civilization", you can always hop a commuter plane. Not to mention, we're just
as close to Toronto as NYC (TWO big cities just a half-days drive away! It just
doesn't get any better than this! <g>)

It sounds great! And you notice I said "city", not "New York"! Toronto is
probably my favorite city in the world.
But there ARE advantages to city living. Last year I fell and gashed my eye
(the skin under it, I mean). I got it stitched up by a cosmetic plastic surgeon
at one of the best hospitals in the world, and a year later the scar is
virtually invisible. But when a friend of mine injured her knee at her cabin in
the Poconos, it was misdiagnosed at the local hospital, just because they don't
see enough of such injuries. It took a Philadelphia specialist to spot the real
problem and do the corrective surgery.

Unfortunately, most of my "business" is PC training (and Amiga training when I
can find it), and that's something you have to be there for. On the other hand,
if the jackpot were big enough…;)
But the truth is, I enjoy doing it.

reads "Besa Mi Coolamee" written around a pair of BIG lips I made & scanned
..figured our Mexican friends here would get a laugh from that…the locals are
too dumb.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise! I've heard some horror stories from some
women who log on with names like Sue or Barbara…;/ Never run into that type
of harassment myself, but then my "other" online name is Morgan which is an
androngenous (sp?) name also…:)

You can blame it all on my Mom. She always told me, that if it was

I'll have to speak to her and set her straight on all this. <grin>

So did my grandfather! He always believed my parents chose the wrong spelling,
because I was named after a family friend (female). The truth is, though, about
9 out of 10 Mario(a)ns I ever met spelled it with an "o", and only one was
male. So I'm sticking with it.
I think it's all the fault of Maid Marian, myself…

This is certainly true! And in my case, it would be quite true, yet for some
