Hi all, I am about to finally upgrade my modem, I want to purchase a Supra 28.8
faxmodem. I have been using a Supra since 1988 and have never had a modem
problem at all, excellant value for the money.
My questions are:
1. Isn't Supra represented on CIS?
I checked "modemvendor" and didn't see a listing.
2. Is there a employee of Supra on here I could talk to?
3. I have used my Supra on my Amiga, my Mac, and on my PC and never had any
problems, will I be able to do the same again with the new 28.8 faxmodem? I do
intend to purchase an additional modem later on but for now I would like to use
one if I can.

Supra is represented on CIS. They are no longer in the ModemVendor area. You
can reach them by typing GO SUPRA or using the equivalent command if you use a
CIM program. And you can leave messages to the tech support people.
You should be able to use the 28.8 without a problem on all platforms. I switch
my Supra and two PPI modems between my Amiga and OS/2 machine and the Supra has
no problem at all. In fact, Supra just released a flasher program for the
Amiga so you can update the flashrom on the modem on all three platforms.

Supra don't seem to respond all that often. I've got their 14.4 Fax/modem,
haven't had any problems except once when it died but they responded very well
under the 5 year guarantee they have.
The only thing is, I believe they had some kind of upgrade to the 28.8 policy
but it doesn't apply to the yoicks in places like Australia. Bear in mind that
modems in Australia cost at least twice as much than in the US.

Christian, Thanks for the answer. I thought Supra was on CIS, just didn't look
in the right place. I'll check in with them, but you have confirmed what I
thought about using the modem on more than one platform. I had been doing that
for several years. I'm looking forward to a much faster modem, wonder what
"speed" we will be using in another five years or so.

No problem at all. I've been using Supra products since my first HD
controller on my A1000. I'm glad that they still do (although limitedly) Amiga
support. If you have any questions, just go and visit them. In 5 years? I
guess that depends on if we're still using POTS or ISDN.
