My friend had an Amiga 2000 and wants to go online. What's the best communications software/modem combination available to him? Thanks,

Peter, Any standard external modem will work fine with the Amiga. There are several freeware or shareware terminal programs here in our libraries that your friend can use. Don

Dear Don, Thanks for your quick response. My next question: I have a Macintosh, can I download a terminal emulator for my friend? If not, how can my friend get the software he needs to go online without being online? Quite the dilemma, isn't it? Thanks for your time, Peter Mills

Peter, If your friend has a Mac emulator for the Amiga…then sure, you can download it for him. Otherwise…if your friend has AmigaDOS 2.1 or above, and another friend has an IBM compatible…they can download it for him and he can use CrossDOS (built into Amiga OS 2.1) to transfer the files. If all else fails, your friend will have to find someone with an Amiga…or a local dealer who's willing to assist. Don

Hi! This is a question for Don Curtis. My friend has an Amiga 3000 and wants to get online. I d/l'ed AP with and the extraction utility with my pc and sent them to him, but his machine won't read the disks. I guess that means he doesn't have AmigaDos 2.1? If that's so, how can he get it, so that he can use the disks I sent him? And, what else would he need for getting online? Aside from a modem, of course. A comm program, maybe? Or does AP have one built-in–assuming he can get it loaded. Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rob

Peter, >My friend had an Amiga 2000 and wants to go online. What's the best communications software/modem combination available to him? Most modems will work with the A2000. I'm using a Supra 14.4 FAX modem on my 2000 at the moment and it works just fine. There are several nice terminal programs out that will serve him well, two of the best are Terminus and Term. If your friend wishes to connect to CIS, AutoPilot is invaluable! Skimming through the Redwoods on AutoPilot Asha
