Chip, looks like the Disk Validator is checking your drive, because the file system doubts about the drive integrity. It then checks the hole drive block by block and again, while other tasks are normally running. So there are a lot of nearly contiguous drive accesses. Mostly this is caused by a per reset aborted write with an open file resulting. Or you're running a program that forgets anything. I had same problems on my A590 years ago. To check the drive, run "verify data on drive" in the HDToolBox. This does a physical block check. On a 270MB with a 68000, it takes some minutes…(not hours:-) To check file system integrity, wait for the drive to be surely idle (Disk Validator should have done its job). If you can't achieve this, backup your data and reformat; _quick_ format is fully sufficient on a scsi drive. Backup your data and run ReOrg 3.1 ( ore better 3.11 for Dir Cache FFS and muFS) to read and check the directory structure. You can savely abort it then and need not to run the reorganisation task.
