I'll disagree with people buying clones over Amiga's. I have convinced 3
people this year to buy Amiga's instead of a clone. I live in Ohio. 2 were out
of state online friends and one was a local person. I also help convince
another person to upgrade from his 500 to a CD32/SX1 system. If more Amiga
owners would just invite people over and let them play with thier Amiga's and

macs we would have more users. The #1 reason people buy clones is piracy. Clone
software is never copy protected and there are days that I feel like I'm the
only one who has bought Corel Draw,Dos 6,Windows 3.1,quattro Pro ect.
The secret is just be nice. Course it helps when you have both platforms
sitting in the same room.

I've sold my share of Amigas by personally demoing them at home, but it is
really hard to get that many folks into my place on a regular basis.<G>
Unless collared by an Amiga user, they follow blindly along.
Even then I've had some that thought the Amiga was really nice, but bought
IBM anyway, because it was a "standard".
BTW: Did you sell everyone you had over?
If ESCOM gets serious about making a new Amiga, I might try to "convert"
some of those folks.
Otherwise I could not in good concience ask somebody to buy an Amiga.
There isn't enough current support for the Amiga to ask somebody to invest
in an Amiga, if there isn't going to be a hope for increased support.
For those of us that already have Amigas, and already have software etc.,
there isn't much risk in upgrading. But to make all that initial
investment in the computer, and then buy into the software, I'd sure want
to have some indication that there were going to be more Amigas in the
future.
