tS trashed my scene!

trueSpace has somehow messed up my scene file so that it will no longer load. I've loaded, changed, and saved it many times without problem but now whenever I load the scene it just says "Error loading scene". That's all! What kind of error? There's several weeks of work invested there! How can I recover from this? The file looks like about the same size as before so I assume my work's still in there but with a few mangled bits. Is there anyway to find out what it thinks is bad and go in with a binary editor and flip a few bits? I can't continue using trueSpace if its going to trash my work when it saves. Is Caligari listening? Has this happened to anyone else?

Have you tried running CHKDSK on your hardrive ? Don't suppose you have a recent back-up of all that work ? That's really too bad – sorry I couldn't help more…

Hi Roy, I created this large scene of a futuristic city with hi-rise towers, spaceport, lake & park under a dome, etc. I would have lost the whole thing (14 days worth of work) but I had done a backup on it 2 days before, but my system crashed (so I still had 12 days of work saved. This crash occurred when I exited TS & saved what I had created in that session. I learned two (2) valuable lessons from this. #1 – If your working on a good sized project, ALWAYS back it up before you quit for the day; #2 – SAVE your work in TS about every 20 to 30 minutes. If you do too much work in TS then try to save it, you may crash. I got totally involved with my scene I was mocking up, working for about 2 hours without saving. Then when I tried to save 2 hours of intense TS work, the pay back was…"CRASH !" It situation may differ from what happened with your work, but I just thought I'd pass along what I learned the hard way. L E E

Can you try and work from your backup of the file (albeit, maybe older..) for now, and also U/L the file to the GRVENC sysop library (0) and put it to my attention? I'll see if there's a way to recover it. Remember to .zip it.. Please e-mail me in that area when you've got it there..
