Hilary,
I have been fallowing your quest for info on CD-Rom with GVP. My 2c: I am
running an NEC (notorious for incompatibilities) on a GVP series II controller
externally (also have a scsi device internal) with NO problems whatsoever BUT I
have an active terninator on the end of the scsi chain (I got this from daniel
wolf (CIS ID 70250,626). Matter of fact when I got this terminator all of my
scsi problems went away and I have a Segate 530 meg internal, and in a mini pc
tower case externally I have a quantem 105, a quantem 40, a 88 meg sysquest, &
a NEC CD-ROM and ocasionally hook up my friends C= 250 meg tape drive. (so I
am asking for scsi problems!!)
On another note I see you are looking for audio cd capabilites also, is so
make sure the drive you pick is a SCSI II drive, it does not matter if the
controller is scsi II or not, but the drive must be in order to utilize the
audio cd programs available from within the amiga.

Sorry, but that is not correct. I am using an NEC-25 single speed CDRom
regular SCSI (you know, the one that Creative Computers was selling for $90
brand new) made by MediaVision that plays my Audio CDs just fine.

Re: The termination. I always thought that if one used a chain (up to 7) SCSI
devices, the only one to be terminated was the last device on the chain. Most
SCSI hardware has removeable terminations built into them. If this is done
correctly – and the last device – say the CD-ROM drive – is the only one
terminated,…. why does one need the gadget you mentioned?
