While the Amiga would fill in the lower price range, does it really make sense to sell two machines from the same company, that are totally incompatible? Yes Apple did it during the coexistance of the ][ amd the Mac, and C= did it during the days of C64/Amiga and to a limited extend during the Amiga/Colt era. However, the junior machine becomes classed as a "not a serious computer", which is something the Amiga faced for a long time. At the same time, you are trying to market an entyr level computer with little support outside of the Graphics/Video workstation areas. If Dell had decided to market it as an entry level computer, you could kiss off the 4000's and anything beyond that, as their prices would approach those of the PCs that Dell was selling to its main customers.
