#LenZFX and fields?!
2 messages in this thread
Aaron,
While I haven't had a chance to use LenzF/X a great deal, there does seem to be
a problem I don't quite understand. This has occured several times:
Using say 32MB available RAM, a scene rendered without the LF/X post reports
say 20MB RAM used. After rendering with the LF/X post, and noticing that some
swapping is occuring, checking the Current Status now shows *still* 20MB
used……but page faults/swapping has occured ???
In other words, normally a scene with memory requirements greater than that
available would show 32MB USED of 32MB AVAILABLE, then the swap file size, page
faults, etc.. But, with LF/X, it seems to force swapping, even though the
available memory has not been consumed by the rest of the scene elements.
Even the swapping is odd, as some 3DS operations are run from disk, but some
still operate as if conventional memory has not been exhausted ?? I've never
seen anything like it, and otherwise, 3DS and other IPAS run just fine.
This is 3DS 4c1, latest posted Vibrant Stealth 64 DRAM drivers, Intel Premier
II MB (P100), HiMem.sys.
This is a very nice first-generation program, BTW.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
BILL

I have. The file viewer that comes with Texture Universe (and R4) does the
same thing when rescaling large files. Although, I doubt this information is
very helpfull for you! <G>
