I have a freind who would like to know if anyone out there has had any success running 3D Studio on a PowerMac running with a 486 DX2 compatable card installed. Autodesk did not know since it has never been bench marked by them. If so, what differences in performance can I expect to see?

Tom, >> 3D Studio on a PowerMac running with a 486 DX2 compatable card I think your biggest problem would be that 3D Studio requires a hardware lock that attaches to a parallel printer port, which Mac's don't have. Does the compatibility card have one mounted on it? Without one, 3D Studio won't run. John

Thanks for the reply, John. At this time we are exploring options, so I will have to look into that.

No parallel key, no 3DS. Or you can _buy_ 3DS and one of those software programs to will blown away the protection. However, that's not recommended, as 3DS could act strange. I am not sure it is legal either (althought if you own the program and the key, most probably it is legal). OR, you can try to use PowerPrint, that come with a local-talk to parallel converter and do some custom cables to match it with the pins of the key. ana /krazy images
