Can anyone help with a problem I am having trying to recreate the way that air molecules move when transferring sound. e.g. when a drum skin is hit the air molecules in front of the skin space out and as the skin comes back the molecules compress causing the molecules in front of that to space out and so on. There is a transferance of energy through the air molecules. This needs to be created for a Childrens television programme in UK. and is proving to be a major problem. Has anyone done anything similar or actually this or created any software that will help with this problem. Alan.

Alan, sounds like a dynamics package is what you need. Schreiber has an amazing new package called "key factory" which is a complete physics package. Should be able to handle some of what your talking about. The squashing/stretching would probably have to be done with keyscript, but it's not too hard.
