#Help! Matrox Impression
4 messages in this thread
Is there anyone using Matrox Impression 3Mb with 3DS4?
I am having difficulty getting 3DS4 to run with Impression. Here's a list of
things I've tried.
1. Install the program normally. The program ran and rendered with default
setting of VGA and 640X480X16 resoluation. Used VIBCFG to change to
VIBRANT and Impression 3Mb, If I pick anything but 640X480X16, the test
pattern is skewed and monitor shuts off. I have to cold re-boot to bring it
back. (Monitor is a Nanao F550i-W) When the computer re-boots, it beeps
one long, than two short ones.
2. Downloaded latest Matrox Power Driver, 1.45 from Matrox BBS and Cserve.
Loaded driver for ACAD R13 and 3DS. Used RCPADI and copy RCMGA.EXP
to 3DS4 DIR. Got program to load and display at selected resolution, but will
not render. Program kept asking for RC*.EXP file location.
3. Downloaded latest MGA.MON file from Matrox. No effect.
4. Ran Matrox monitor test software in setup. Pattern looked clean and sharp
up to 1028X700X16.7M, which is Impression's limit. Proved Impression should
be functioning O.K.
5. Re-boot computer with different memory manager (last ditch effort). Tried
QEMM, DOS EMM386, and no memory manager. No effect.
If you have any idea, please drop a note to me. I am completely clueless.
Thanks in advance… Mikey 8-(
Have you downloaded the latest drivers from the forum here? They are 1.0.6, and
called vib3ds.zip.
Mike,
You should no longer be using RCPADI drivers with the Matrox boards. Support
for the Matrox Impression is built into the latest vibrant drivers for 3D
studio. Download VIB3DS.ZIP from the forum library to get those drivers.
After downloading and expandng the file, make sure you delete your 3DADI.CFG
file, and remove any references to RCPADI ro RPDADI from your AUTOEXEC or Batch
files. Then type 3DS VIBCFG to begin configuring the Vibrant drivers. Review
the installation guide for more details.
