#Help! Matrox Impression

Brian, Thanks for the quick response.
I've already tried the new 3dsvib.zip file. The problem persists.
Following your direction, I've loaded the new driver files to 3ds4 directory.
Proceeded with C:>3ds vibcfg command and change the first display driver
to Vibrant and changed the display resolution to 640X480X256. Selected yes
for video testing, then the monitor shuts off. (I think my monitor has a Green
detection feature where if no signals is coming from the video board, it shut
itself off.) I can heard that the computer is still responding, even after
Ctrl-Alt-
Del warm re-boot. But the screen still will not come on. Only a cold reset
re-
boot will the monitor come back online.
By the way, I read a notice from the read.me file in 3dsvib.zip. It listed
the notice below:
MGA Impression 3Mb, 1152x882x16 bpp
Not supported at this time if Titan chip is present.
Does this only apply to that particular resolution? I don't think I ever
got my board to display at that.
Anyway, hope you have any other idea. Thank you for your time. Mikey

It should detect a signal, even if it the wrong one. At worst, if you wait 10
seconds, the signal should return to the menu, which was already working.

Do you have a titan chip on your board? The boards I have tested did not.

My monitor would not detect any signal regardless. If I press any key after I
launched the monitor test mode, the monitor dies. If left it alone for ten
seconds, it still dies. Again, what I mean by the monitor dies is that it just
shuts down, and only cold re-boot can bring it back.

Can you please tell me how do I identify my Impression 3mb has titan chip or
not. I've look at all the chips on board and none of them contain titan
legend. Physically, the Impression board I have is a full size board (one that
reaches all the way to front of the case). I've seen recent ad for the
Impression and it seemed shorter. I'm not sure if Matrox has since re-layout
the board and condensed it somewhat.

Do you have another monitor somewhere you could test this out with? I think
your monitor is not sensing frequency changes properly. When 3DS shifts video
modes, it is changing a video mode, resolution, and possibly frequency. It
sounds like your monitor is interpreting that as no signal.

I finally solved my problem with 3ds4 and my Matrox Impression 3v board. The
solution came from David White of Matrox. Turns out Vibrant's newest driver,
1.0.6 P1, which ships with 3ds4 does not support Impression 3v board at this
time. I needed to download the 1.0.3 P1 driver from Vibrant to get it to work.
Vibrant's tech mentioned that they will fix this problem in 2-3 month. I've
uploaded the 1.0.3 P1 driver into Matrox's library here if anybody needs it.

I believe that the Titan is an Intel Pentium designation. I don't know if
MSD.EXE can determine this but it might.
