I see quite a few people have downloaded the RealGirl images, mesh & info.. Just to make the point clear, in case it's not: That was *not* supposed to be an example of a *great* model, ….not at all. It was supposed to be an example of a very SIMPLE model….which can be made to look OK. Notice how easy it is to visualize & work with, due to the minimium vertex count. But, if you want a dense tri-mesh for Bones or 3DS, no problem….you can dial-in the resolution before export…no problems with "cracking" as reported with Playmation or Anim. Master. Are you working with Metaballs? You can design the object's contour curves as PATHS, attach a sphere, set up an X-frame anim. using a CREATION method, ….and produce "strings" of spheres for export, with complete control over spacing, scaling, etc.. Need easy hi-quality text objects with beveled, rounded or cut & grooved edges ? It's simple. Need to easily perform complex Interactive Freeform Deformations to create morph targets of equal vertex counts? Well, you can do it. This is a very useful program to complement 3DS. Actually, the upload's main purpose was to show that the geometry can be re-Skinned with SKIN/SLICE, and precisely parametrically mapped, ….unlike typical direct or DXF imports. That's an awfully powerful feature. Regards, BILL

It was a nice model, but that is one _ugly_ woman! <BG> DM

Well, download the mesh, and make your own maps to make her beautiful! <g> I've never claimed to be an artist here, …I'm not. (Kind of a sexy body though, don't you think ?<g>) (sorry ladies, I'm awful I know) BILL

Bill – My finger hovered forever over the "tastefulness" button but decided what the heck! Just keep wondering where the Jim Palmer look alikes are. Anne

Hi Anne, << My finger hovered forever over the "tastefulness" button but decided what the heck! Just keep wondering where the Jim Palmer look alikes are. >> Hehehe. Maybe I could find one of those underwear ad's to use as a reference <g>. Should I construct it with or without his BVD's ? Never mind, I know the answer. There definitely is a double-standard for male vs female public nudity in this country for some reason. Well now, come to think of it, I remember Gary allowing a controversial male anatomy flic post around the time Skin.axp was being developed, and John Wayne Bobbit was becoming…..undeveloped <g>. Thanks for allowing the post. BTW, I tried another test u/l to *other* than the Mesh/Project section, with no success, FYI. Regards, BILL

Bill – What happens when you try to upload? What type of messages do you get? I've checked again and the libraries that should be are public and all your forum accesses look okay. Anne

Anne, << What happens when you try to upload? What type of messages do you get? I've checked again and the libraries that should be are public and all your forum accesses look okay. >> Using CsNav 1.1, which I have used to archive & off-line read this forum since 12/93, if I try to upload to any other section besides Mesh/Project Files, I get: * Error while contributing library file. * Uploads not permitted to this library. Last attempt was at 9:28 CIS time Saturday morning. Please see ANNE.GIF uploaded to MESH/PROJECT FILES, then remove. Because I have been so active (lurking or not) here for so long, I'd have to say either: 1) There's a recent incompatibility with CsNav. 2) Something's wrong on your end. 3) Something's wrong on the CIS end. Could this be related to the new forum s/w ? I could not use a 8.3 filename, …was truncated to 6.3. Other forum regulars have mentioned having this problem, as well. BILL

Bill – As mentioned elsewhere the 8 test files you uploaded all where there in good shape. I have no idea what is wrong and suggest that you go to the NAVCIS Forum and ask. Anne

Hi Anne, Please see my other recent messages to you first. I just attempted to u/l a small dummy test GIF to the following 3DS-specific sections: 1,3,5,6,7,9,10,12,16,18. My CsNav s/w gives the same "Uploads not permitted to this Library" message for ALL sections, other than Mesh/Project Files. However, you might want to check CIS to see if they are *really* there or not. The filename is ANNE2.GIF, and it's just a 100×100 black swatch. Perhaps you can track activity at CIS to figure out what's going on. The activity began at 10:21 CIS time Saturday. Please see ANNE3.GIF u/l to Mesh/Proj FIles section for the log. Regards, BILL

Bill – All the library uploads were there. ?? Weird! Let me know what NAVCIS has to say. anne

Hi Anne, << All the library uploads were there. ?? Weird! Let me know what NAVCIS has to say. >> Bizzarre. But I had a feeling……that's why I bothered you with the test. Hmmm. BTW, this is *CsNav*, which is Compuserve's own product. Their forum is usually pretty unresponsive. Thanks for letting me know. Sorry to have u/l little black swatches all over your libraries <g>. Regards, BILL

Bill, >> There definitely is a double-standard for male vs female public nudity in this country for some reason. << to try to address this imbalance I uploaded 3 skin superheroes many moons ago (as you probably remember). 2 were male, 1 was female and all were wearing little or "skin" tight clothing. I was told by a female animator at the time that the gladiator needed a larger bulge in his briefs <g>. She was right, I had shortchanged him a bit in that area <gg> Anyway, I think I've done my part, but while I enjoy modeling on both sexes, I don't get the same "warm" feelings modelling a male as on a female. Sounds like Alan is doing what I wanted to do (model an anime girl). Martin

So he was shy a few vertices, huh ? << I don't get the same "warm" feelings modelling a male as on a female. >> I know what you mean. It's definitely more interesting than staring at…..a pipe fitting or whatever for hours <g>. BILL

Bill, >> That's funny Martin. So he was shy a few vertices, huh ? << well, I wasn't going to model detailed genitalia! My name's not Viewpoint <G>. It was just that he looked a bit of a eunech ….

<< well, I wasn't going to model detailed genitalia! My name's not Viewpoint <G>. It was just that he looked a bit of a eunech …. >> Remember that early Skin flic (no pun intended) uploaded here during Skin beta, which was related to the JW Bobbit case <g> ? He**, you might could've used it, when she was done with it <ggg>. BILL

Bill, >> Remember that early Skin flic (no pun intended) uploaded here during Skin beta, which was related to the JW Bobbit case <g> << yeah, I remember. I was hoping for more detail in that animation, you know, texture and bump mapping etc. There's a guy called Lars Fields who does some really bizarre but high-quality animations that could have done a stellar job with that.
