You're getting a couple of stories mixed together. Noel Blanc, who has his helicopter pilot licence was involved in a crash. Mel Blanc awoke from his coma speaking as Bugs Bunny rather than his own voice. Now ya see how rumors get started? Noel was being trained by Mel to do the voices and I think it was wishful thinking on Mel's part that Noel could carry on the family tradition. Noel has auditioned for the voices numerous times and although he does some of the voices quite well WB has always had different actors they felt were stronger. Jeff Bergman did many of the Looney Tunes voices for several years. His Bugs and Daffy were awesome. But he wanted to be billed as the voice of Looney Tunes or something like that and WB didn't want to lock themselves in like that. Currently Jeff Bergman does Bugs, Joe Alaskey does Daffy. I believe Maurice LaMarsh does Yosemite Sam. Many of the others are up for grabs. If you know anyone who is the New Mel Blanc have him submit a tape!!!!!! Hope I wasn't too long-winded, kb
