We are using a Laserjet 4 to print our HPGL2 plot files. I'm not sure if this
is what you are asking, but this is what we do:
First, initialize the printer to HPGL mode by sending a file to do this:
type hpgl2.mod > lpt1
contents of hpgl2.mod
{esc}E{esc}&l1O{esc}%0BIN
({esc} is the escape character; <CTRL><P> and then <esc> in DOS edit)
Second, send your plot file
type plot.fil > lpt1
You can also eject the page by sending {esc}E in a file to the printer.
You could probably just put the escape codes in the plot file, but we do this
as a batch file calls the commands to send the file and the plot file changes
from inside the CAD software where we can't add the escape codes.
