We have a couple of Laserjet 4 Plus printers that report paper jams when the
lower cassette runs out of paper. No jam, just out of paper. The printer has
to be switched off & back on to reset it as far as I can tell.

Another user reported the same problem, but hasn't solved his problem yet. He
did find that adding paper caused the message to go away — no power cycling or
reset needed. Does this work for you?
