#LJ4+ problems

My wife has a problem at her workplace with a LJ4+ that is networked. The
employees in her office use MS Works software. But an off-site group uses a
modem to connect to the printer too. When the printer is printing a document
for the off-site group, and someone in the office sends a print job to the
printer, it overprints onto the first job. What can be done to resolve this
problem? There seems to be a queuing problem. Also, can the LJ4+ be
programmed to recognize legal vs. letter length paper and take what is
appropriate? Any help you can offer will be appreciated. If more information
is needed, please advise.

Can you define the configuration a bit more exactly. Are you saying that the
loacl people use it via the network and the remote people come in and use it
via the serial port?
My understanding is that the I/O card will correctly use the ports allowing
each port to send in turn. However if it is serial to the remote users then
they MUST have a cable with most of the signals connected. If they ony have
2,3,7 then flow control will have to be via software. I would suspect that if
they are using telephone access they may be using a multiplexor to get more
connections via the phone and often the MUX will use hardware flow control
instead.
As far as the trays are concerned if you purchase the correct trays for the
correct size papaer and use the additional lower sheet feeder you can send jobs
to each tray and it will print on the partiular size paper.

Thanks for your response. I'll see if I can find out how the remote users are
connected. Also, I'll find out if the proper trays have been purchased to
allow selection of regular and legal size papers.
