Our office has a LJ4 connected to a PC on the parallel port and a DEC/VAX
system connected to the serial port. Recently it has stopped printing from the
serial port, although it still prints from the parallel port. I ran a self
test, yielding the following port settings:
Parallel Menu
High Speed=Yes
Adv Fnctns=On
Serial Menu
Serial=RS-232
Pacing=xon/xoff
Baud rate=9600
Robust xon=On
DTR polarity=Hi
According to the manual, automatic I/O switching can be disabled from the
control panel, though it doesn't say how, and doesn't say how to restore it.
Is it possible that someone disabled automatic I/O switching, or should I look
elswhere for the problem? Any help will be appreciated.
Terry,
I can't find any way to disable IO switching from the printer's control
panel either.
Perhaps the I/O Timeout value is set to a very high number which would tend
to "lock" the printer to the more commonly used port?
