I am currently using an HPIII with a 3rd part multi-port card with 1 PC
parallel port and 1 mainframe serial port in use. I want to upgrade to an HP4
and I notice it has 1 serial port and 1 parallel port. Can both be connected
and "active" at the same time?
The HP4 doesn't appear to be able to accept a 3rd part mutil-port card (which
may not be necessary).

Our business runs an HP4 [no letter] that we bought over a year ago, and we run
a PC to the parallel and a DEC/VAX network to the serial. This HP has autoport
sensing and until recently the setup worked with no problem. It's not working
now, but I think that someone [maybe me] messed up something in the DEC system
and caused that problem. My guess is that your setup will work fine.
